Modern Exalted

What if Exalted was set in the modern day world? Obviously there'd be some conflicts with the setting. Primarily in the areas of gods/demons. We don't have such supernatural creatures abundantly dancing through our backyards. So if you knock out spirits do you leave elementals and demons? Off-hand I'd say no. While summoning them certainly gives Exalts a lot more firepower cutting them out still allows a fair amount of power. Plus consider that skill set would change I'd see it as fair.

So knocking out the non-Exalts leaves us with Exalted. Are Infernals and Alchemicals allowed (we'll posit that Heroic Exalted don't exist since we have no template for them)? I'd say yes to both. Fair Folk? Maybe not. Chaos is not really something affecting modern times.

That leaves us with the Solars, Sidereals, Lunars, Dragon-Blooded, and Abyssals. The core people. Now I'd posit that the Dragon-Blooded are basically large powerful, long lived families who control, somewhat subtly, the governments. In some places their control may be more open but since they can go by blood certain family lines run most of the world. Outcastes exist but are generally found and pressed into service or claim areas unheld by the families.

Celestial Exalts: Well Alchemicals are hard to explain but basically they could be hidden cities, etc that noone really knows about. Most Alchemicals aren't really human looking so they would generally have to keep a low profile. They are hard to explain (so I shall reserve more thought for them).
Lunars hold reign or hide out in areas less heavily populated. There may be some exceptions of Lunars who live in the "urban jungle". Sidereals are everywhere, hiding, undercover and broken of a unified power. Solars are also scattered but actively trying to fight the powers at be. Infernals are skulking in the shadows, just waiting. Abyssals are beginning to seize control of areas that are shadowlands, deep in the jungle, etc. Lunars are the first to realize the threat and fight them, along with some Solars and Outcastes.

There are some basics at least

Hmm, the trick for updating the setting is making Charms fit modern day norms. I mean ride is a whole lot less useful at least in the Western world. What about a pilot or drive? Plus Sail is a much more complex ballgame. Now you have everything from submarines to supertankers all of which did not exist.

There's also the question of how much damage does a bullet do?

Very much a magic vs. technology setting though. Interesting if they would ever attempt such a spin off.
