Ptolus 6

Ok, well since we sort of ran out of time for Ptolus we decided to get everyone to the towers of Jabel Shammar at the top of the Spire (and add about 16 levels so they were lvl 20).

The party starts out having used a soul magic spell in the Necropolis that dumps them out on the walkway between the Tower of Malice (the large central spire) and the Tower of Blasphemy.

They opt to tackle the smaller towers prior to the big one so the party (consisting of Greg, his cleric cohort, El and her huge tiger, and Nes and his shadow, and if I mixed up El and Nes again I'm sorry :D ). Concerned about the evil that might corrupt the shadow it is kept outside.

Using Nes's spells (he is a rogue/wizard/shadowdancer now) the party manages to determine the first room is a trap with a nightcrawler beneath its illusionary floor. The party opts to confront it and after several swallowings the party overwhelmed it and killed it. An elemental fire monolith may have been involved. The party opted to spend the night but awoke realizing that time spent in Jabel Shammar was slowly starting to corrupt them starting with the cleric cohort who became lawful neutral from lawful good.

The party moved its way upstairs and encountered a room of utter darkness that Greg's Holy Avenger managed to dispel. There they found two vats of liquid shadow that filled an entire bag of holding. Moving upwards the party discovered the lance of endless night, half completed. Without a way to take it with them or easily destroy it they instead moved on to the next level.

Here they found 3 basins of water. They only opted to touch the Font of Immorality which caused several characters to be stunned.

The next level up finally brought a decent challenge. Upon entering they were confronted by several mummies. Not exactly intimidated both Greg and his cohort prepared to turn undead. Nothing happens. El attempts to cast a spell. Nothing happens. Nes does get a spell off. The party realizes arcane spells function but divine does not. The mummies move in firing spells and attacking. El retreats while Nes goes ethereal. Greg stands his ground. The battle is essentially a stalemate as the mummies cannot do much damage but the party cannot quickly destroy them. El summons another fire monolith in the level below utterly destroying it (no room for anything else in the room). Greg is now effectively trapped but manages to hold his own. The Holy Avenger manages to help give him an edge while quasi-ethereal Nes also picks off targets. After quite awhile (and one torched room below) the party succeeds.

And that's where we left off. One tower down, 3 to go...
